Soliemoves horrible experience

Horrible Experience With Soliemoves
In February of 2008 we hired Mr Jordan's firm Soliemoves to pick up a credenza for us out on Long Island. We were recommended to Mr Jordan (from what it turns out his business partner - we did not know at the time) who happened to be located in Brooklyn where we were moving to. Mr Jordan also provided a storage service which was perfect for us.
For the price of $150 he picked it up stored in and promised to deliver it for us when we moved to our new appartment. The service so far was impeccable and Mr Jordan seemed very nice.
We later scheduled to have Mr Jordan come and help us to move from Manhattan to Brooklyn, both because his price was right but also because he seemed like a nice guy and he had our credenza. Yes, we admit that it was naive in hindsight.
On the Wednesday before the move Mr Jordan confirmed the time and location for pickup both over phone and text message. To our surprise Soliemoves DID NOT show up that day (i.e. Saturday). No phone call nothing. Our phone calls were not picked up, emails text messages, searching web sites for alternate numbers nothing gave any glimpse of light.
After 3 hours of waiting we were lucky to find another company that could help us that day but obviusly for a higher amount than what was previously agreed with Soliemoves and Mr Jordan. After all we were panicking a bit with our apartment in boxes, furniture sold, bed in plastic wrap etc etc and a promise to the landlord that he could come in and start preparing for the next tenant the day after. To us moving is a big thing which apperantly Soliemoves does not share. This information was not shared to us when agreeing to this, over the phone, business agreement. To our surprise somebody else calls at 2 pm (three hours late) and informs us that they will be showing up in 5????? "You have our number? You have our number and you didn't bother to call to let us know that you were planning to be 3 hours (or even more) late?". These comments did not seemed to in any way affect the person who called us who hung up with an "OK"
We did not accept these guys offer to come and to the move for us since we hired the new amazing guys who helped us very quick and thoroughly to move from Manhattan and Brooklyn.
After we started moving we called the guy from Soliemoves who just called us to make sure that he would deliver our credenza. He promised to deliver the credenza before 5 pm the same day.
At 5 pm we had not received a phone call nor was anybody outside our door. Calling the person again he, in a very hostile way, tells us the warehouse closed at 3. NOTE that this is Mr Jordan and Soliemoves own storage facility. - Promised to deliver- Then blames his own warehouse for being closed- he was aware of this at 3 pm and did not call us to inform about this
We then get annoyed, explain that we have a serious problem on how the business is being conducted, and ask for Mr Jordan's number which the man in charge gives to us over the phone. We call Mr jordan and it turns out this is a fake number. We call the guy back to get the right number and he dares to give us the fake number again. So without being offensive - the mover lied to us twice and probably more than once that day.
Mr Jordan finally calls us the same day and here are his words:1. he doesn't know what went wrong2. he has been personally unavailable that day because of a business trip to New Hampshire were cell phones do not work3. He is on a business trip with the person who recommended his service to us4. He promises to get to the bottom of this and get back to us5. he says his own warehouse closes at 5 pm on Saturday6. He promises to call us when the warehouse opens at 9am the next day and personally deliver the piece7. he promises to deliver the credenza between 9-10 am
Sunday
at 10:20 the cell phone rings. It is the same guy from Saturday's bailed moved. He is outside with the credenza
1. Mr Jordan once again did not fulfill his promise (honestly is it that hard to be honest and keep ones promises - I suspect his (ex) friends and family has suffered from this)2. They did not deliver on time3. They did not call in advance as they promised4. The credenza had defects in the back that wasn't there when we bought it
We have not up til today (when this is posted - Friday March 14) recieved any call backs, emails or any attempt to explain what happened from Soliemoves, which he promised to do. In the end we ended up paying $150 more than we have agreed with Mr Jordan because of this new firm's prices. Which was all fine since the actually showed up. I would have expected Solie to compensate us with the difference or make a deduction from our already payed for delivery. No such attempts or any efforts to make up for the problems he caused us have been made to date. Mr Jordan has also received this note in an email at the same time of this posting. He is also recieving the links to where this comment was posted in hope that he replies.
Soliemoves is a horrible experience, it was a perfect hit and run from somebody who obviously does not take pride in his work. I am always very disappointed when people behave like this but then I remind myself that this person's family and (ex?)friends probably suffer a lot more.
I cannot recommend hiring Mr Jordan and Soliemoves unless you're part of a social experiment.
